FAQs

Here are some of the questions that we are often asked, and a place for you to ask us your own questions!

Q: I can't login to Blackboard, my Point Park email or Pointweb!

A: The IT help desk will be able to assist you with any login problems, please contact them here:

HelpDesk

Q: Why can't I access the full-text of an article I found?

A: The library databases include article abstracts that we (very rarely) do not have the full-text available for due to the terms of our subscriptions. To request an article that is not available in the library databases go to our easy to use

Request an Article service and simply fill out the form!  You will then receive a PDF of the article in your Point Park email within 2-3 days!

Q: I cannot login to the library databases from my home or office!

A: If you are at your office there are occasionally employer firewall settings/internet restrictions that will not allow you to access various internet sites and sometimes library database access will be blocked for that reason.  If you are at work and cannot access library resources, we recommend trying again from your home computer to see if that works.

If you are already on your personal computer or laptop and are having trouble then please try the following:

  • Verify that you are able to login to your Point Park email to ensure the problem isn't a password issue.  If your password does need to be reset, please contact the IT Helpdesk at 412-392-3494 as they will reset it for you.  If you can login to your university email and still cannot access library online resources please see below

  • Try switching browsers; for example sometimes simply switching from IE to Firefox or Google Chrome will solve the problem.

  • Try clearing the cache and cookies from your browser, this will often resolve the problem if switching browsers did not.

  • Make sure you are accessing library databases through the links on our webpage.  You will not be able to access our databases unless you connect to them through our webpage, going directly to the database websites themselves will not work.

  • If none of the above solutions resolved the issue please contact the library at 412-392-3171 or library@pointpark.edu and we will work with you to get everything back on track.
