What is APA?

Used primarily in publications and research papers within the social sciences (though it may be used in other fields), APA is a formatting and citation style for documenting sources. 

The 7th edition of the APA style guide is the most current, accurate, and in-depth resource for citing and formatting in adherence with APA style and standards.

Why document sources?

Documenting of sources is necessary to

  • GIVE credit
  • DEMONSTRATE thoroughness of research
  • PROVIDE the reader with further research/information to explore or build their own research upon
