Google Scholar

How to access Google Scholar, link it to Point Park University Library, and save sources for later use.

Linking Point Park

Google Scholar searches across many sources, but not all of them are freely available! Fortunately, the Point Park Library is here to help. By following these steps, you will link Google Scholar to the Point Park Library, allowing you FREE access to any sources that the library subscribes to.

Note: You do not have to log in with a Google account in order to link Google Scholar to the library, but if you do not Google will not “remember” that you have linked it. This means you will have to repeat this process every time you use the site. If you want to learn how to create a google account, head to Create My Account.

Once you are logged in, first, access your settings by clicking the three horizontal bars (☰)  in the upper left hand corner of the screen.

Next, click on “Settings”.

From there, go to the navigation bar on the left side of the screen and click “Library links”.

In the search bar, search “Point Park University”. A result will appear that says “Point Park University Library - FullText@PointParkLibrary. Click the checkbox on the left.

Lastly, and most importantly, click the blue “Save” box to save your changes. If you do not do so, Google Scholar will not recognize that you have connected to the library.

Once you’ve completed these steps, you will be able to access full texts for materials by simply clicking “FullText@PointParkLibrary” anytime you see it to the right of an item. See below for an example.
